Bonjour et bienvenue à travelfrance.com.au et le blog de Melinda !
For those of you out there who haven’t had the pleasure of learning the beautiful French language, it means “Hello and welcome to travelfrance.com.au and Melinda’s blog.”
One of my life long dreams is to travel around France. In my opinion, it is one of the most fascinating countries in the world. It has a rich history of castles, occupations by other nations and revolutions. This history has enabled it to develop a completely unique culture to all other countries. To fully appreciate the “French experience”, you need to challenge yourself: learn a new language or learn how to be independent in a place where all you know is “bonjour” and “parlez-vous anglais?” (Or do you speak English?)
Basically, the aim of this blog is to provide you guys with heaps of practical information about travelling around France, help you learn a little French and facts about its colourful history. I think it’s important to know this sort of information when travelling overseas so your trip is more enjoyable.
Travel tips from those who have been to your country of choice are always handy so you don’t make the same mistakes they did. I, unfortunately, haven’t had the opportunity to travel there yet, so all my research will help me one day… If anyone has any great travel tips they’d like to share, feel free to post something and I’ll make sure it gets published.
The first tip I can give you from my observations is try to learn a little French before you leave. French is a great language to speak, and it’s also pretty easy to learn. There are grammar rules to follow with only a few exceptions, unlike English, which is incredibly difficult to learn as a second language. You only really need a few phrases to get around and you’ll be set. It doesn’t matter if you can’t pronounce everything. What’s the worst thing they can do? Correct you? At least you’re learning something. I’ve been learning French for 12 years and I’m still learning new stuff everyday!
Tomorrow, I’m going start writing about Paris and slowly begin working my way around the country. Since there is so much to see and do in Paris, it’s going to take me a few weeks to get through all the “Must See” attractions.
