Allo Allo? Nancy calling Part 9 Museums
September 9th 2006 03:43
Allo allo!
Well, these next four posts are going to be my last posts on Nancy. After that, I’m going to show you a whirlwind tour of some other great cities in France.
Today’s post though is for the history buffs. Like many other places in France that I’ve shown you, Nancy is a historical town. I’ve already shown you a quick history of the Art Nouveau movement which swept through Nancy and the fantastic Musée des Beaux Arts. But, if you’re not into art (which I’m definitely not), there are heaps of other places to check out. Have a look at the list below:
Musée Lorrain and Musée de l'École de Nancy – these museums focus on Nancy’s cultural history and the Art Nouveau stuff.
Muséum-Aquarium de Nancy – yeah. They call their aquarium a museum. It’s rather amusing. I sort of think they have to have stuffed fish on display somewhere to call it a museum…
Musée du Fer – So, if mining and minerals takes your fancy, this is the place to be. The Iron museum has a history of production techniques and tools.
Musée du Téléphone – This museum looks back at two centuries of history with telephones, telegraphs and other technologies which have reinvented how humans perceive time and space. This place looks incredible.
So, that’s it for today. If you’re not into history, stay tuned for info on Nancy’s restaurants, parks and gardens and buzzing night life.
À demain
Melinda
