Tour de France: Stage 7: Saint-Grégoire to Rennes
July 8th 2006 08:15
Bonjour tout le monde!!!
(Hello everyone)
Stage 6 was very successful for the Australians in this year’s Tour de France. Robbie McEwen won this stage in a sprint to the line and extended his lead, hanging onto the maillot vert. Now, he is in 2nd place overall (12 minutes behind Tom Boonen from Germany), overtaking Michael Rogers, who is 21 minutes off the pace.
Stage 7 is a short stage used as an individual time trial, being only 52 kilometres in length. It takes us through the north-western countryside of France and heads over towards the west coast, stretching from Saint-Grégoire to Rennes

Rennes is a city in north-western France in the east of Brittany. The town has been built at the meeting point for two rivers: the Ille and Vilaine. According to Wikipedia, Rennes is a city “of art and history”. There are SOOO many historical sites, it would be impossible to write them all down in this post. Wikipedia does have a comprehensive list, which can be found by clicking here. Besides all the historical sites, Rennes is really involved in the arts and hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year including music, film and TV. For more information, go to the Wikipedia site and use the external links at the bottom of the page. (The list includes a travel diary, the council’s official site and a tourism site).
Ok. That’s it from me today. Monday 10th July is a rest day in the Tour, so tomorrow I won’t be reviewing the next stage. Tomorrow’s post, though, will include a tribute to “Les Bleus” who have made it through to the soccer World Cup Final
À demain
Melinda
