Vive in a Different France: New Caledonia Part 7
August 15th 2006 00:47
Bonjour tout le monde!
I wrote yesterday about Nouméa and described a diverse city with many fantastic attractions and luxuries on offer. But, today, I’d like to show you that there’s much more to New Caledonia than just its capital.
According to the South Pacific Organiser, there are many fantastic “must see” places on this island. They list the spectacular scenery of the north east coast of La Grand Terre and some of the smaller neighbouring islands as the highlights. From what I’ve read, it looks like the east coast of La Grande Terre is the most sheltered and has most of those breathtaking beaches and glorious mountains. Hienghène is one such place where the mountains come down to meet the sea.
You know those beaches you see on all those island getaway tourism ads? Well, if you’re after snow white beaches (which interestingly enough, never seem to have anyone on them), you can find them basically everywhere, but especially on the Isle of Pines and other neighbouring islands.
I always thought that New Caledonia was a fairly small island with nothing much to do, except lying around in the pursuit of pure relaxation. How wrong I turned out to be!!!!
Look us up tomorrow for all the info on the great (and unique) tourist attractions in New Caledonia
À demain
Melinda
