Vive in a Different France: New Caledonia Part 8

Bonjour tout le monde!
So, today I thought I'd give you some more practical information about New Caledonia: stuff that you can use when actually planning a trip.
Today's very short topic: visas. A visa, as most of you travel buffs would know, is a "document issued by a country giving a cerain individual permission to formally request entrance to the country during a given period of time and for certain purposes." (quote from wikipedia.org)
You need visas to get into many countries around the world, however, if you are a citizen of a particular country, you may be allowed to stay there for a certain amount of time without a visa.
For travel to New Caledonia, you need a visa unless you live in the European Union, Switzerland, Canada, Japan, USA, New Zealand and...Australia!! Without a visa you can stay in New Caledonia for up to 90 days (but only for a month if you're from Japan or the US). For citizens from other countries, you need to apply for a visa at a French embassy or consulate before you arrive in NC.
Alright. That's it for now.
À demain
Melinda
